USF RECEIVES AWARD FROM STATE OF FLORIDA
The 2011 Annual Loss Prevention Awards Ceremony, sponsored by Florida's Department of Financial Services, Division of Risk Management, Loss Prevention Program, was held on May 22, 2012 in Tallahassee. The University of South Florida received the 2nd place award for "large" agencies (over 5,000 full-time employees) for reducing average claims cost by 36.6%. Agencies and universities were grouped according to size and selected based on the reduction in average claims costs from FY 2009-2010 compared to FY 2010-2011. Cindy Le'Roy, Risk Manager, Environmental Health & Safety, received the award on behalf of USF.
The Loss Prevention Awards are based upon the performance of State agencies and universities, and awards are presented to the agencies ranking at the top in reducing claims frequency or cost. These awards were granted in three separate categories consisting of small, medium and large agencies, and the top three agencies in each category received awards.
Congratulations to the Environmental Health & Safety Team for their award winning program.
MAKING A SUSTAINABLE DIFFERENCE
Le Proctor, Director, and Barbara Donerly, Assistant Director, Facilities Planning & Construction, have been recognized by the USF Office of Sustainability for their sustainability efforts on the Tampa Campus. The awards were presented by Christian Wells, Director, and Zaida Darley, Program Coordinator, Office of Sustainability.
Le received the Fall 2011 Sustainability Mentors Program Award. This program highlights outstanding faculty and staff who mentor undergraduate or graduate students in sustainability activities on campus, with the dual goals of celebrating faculty/staff mentoring excellence and encouraging others to serve as mentors. Sustainability Mentors are selected based on their commitment to working with USF students on sustainability issues as well as the social, economic, and environmental impact of these efforts.
Barbara received the Fall 2011 Sustainability Champions Program Award. This program highlights outstanding faculty and staff who demonstrate a strong commitment to making the USF campus and community a cleaner, greener place to live and work. Sustainability Champions are selected based on their commitment to conserving resources, reducing waste, recycling and reusing materials, increasing energy efficiency, and other behaviors that will help make USF a more sustainable campus.
Congratulations to Le and Barbara on receiving these awards for their commitment to creating a sustainable campus environment.
