teddyThe theme of this year's Administrative Services/Business & Finance Holiday Event, which is being held December 11, 2-4 p.m. in the MSC Ballroom, is "A Beary, Merry Holiday." Please mark your calendar and join the festivities.

This year there will be a "Creative Holiday Attire" Contest. It's sure to be a lot of fun. The rules are simple. Wear your fun, festive holiday attire to the party. Your attire must be work appropriate and family-friendly, nothing risqué. Those wishing to compete will be called up to the stage during the party where prizes will be awarded for: "Most Festive Headwear," "Most Festive Sweater/Vest/Top," "Most Festive Complete Outfit," and "Funniest Attire."

Every year, as we celebrate and thank our employees, we also adopt a charity to support. It is our way of giving back to the community. Our charity is the Rough Riders Teddy Bear Roundup. This year is the 110th anniversary of the creation of the "Teddy Bear," which was created and named in honor of Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States. The Rough Riders collect donations of new teddy bears which they distribute throughout the year to children in hospitals, shelters, etc.

We encourage you to bring a new teddy bear with you to the holiday party or you can drop one off prior to the party at one of these convenient "drop off" locations: OPM100 (reception area), FPC110 (reception area), EH&S (reception desk), Library (main lobby), BSN (Room 3403), COPH (reception area), and MDC (Shimberg Library).

GivingThe Division of Human Resources is celebrating its 4th annual USF Community Giving Tree. USF Faculty and Staff can anonymously sponsor other members of the USF community who are in need of help providing gifts for their children this year. Employees in need can discreetly submit their children's gift wishes.

Last year, the program was able to make the holidays more special for 168 children of the USF community! Please consider spreading the magic of the holidays and registering for this year's USF Community Giving Tree.

Please visit the USF Community Giving Tree webpage for details on how to submit a child's wish list or sponsor a child.

The 2012/2013 Faculty & Staff Campaign is well underway after a great kickoff event held October 2nd. The Faculty & Staff Campaign for the University of South Florida is a fundraising effort that allows you, as an employee, to make a gift to the area of your choice at the University. These gifts stay at USF and make a lasting impact in each area that you choose to support.

We encourage you to participate in the campaign. No matter now large or small a contribution, every dollar given helps makes USF a better place to live, learn and work. Each year our participation rate rises and we look forward to increasing Administrative Services' participation during the 2012/2013 campaign.
