Winter Break December 24 - 31
Happy New Year! January 1

kudosThe excellent customer service provided by the units within Administrative Services continues to be recognized by the USF community. Eric Hunter, Director, Campus Recreation, recently passed along his thanks and appreciation to a team of Physical Plant employees for committing time and resources to the Campus Recreation Center. Specifically named were Toufic Moumne, Assistant Director, Facilities Enhancement, Hollie Chancey, Manager, Maintenance & Special Allocation, Andy Nogueira, Project Manager, Facilities Enhancement, Pooran Partap, Maintenance Technician, Maintenance & Special Allocation, Sheila Burgess, Manager, Building Services & Vending, and Mary Jackson, Assistant Manager, Building Services & Vending.

Eric cited much needed improvements and repairs were done in the locker rooms, including shower heads that function properly again. He also recognized the dedication of the custodial crew for identifying distinct problem areas and their renewed focus on keeping those areas clean and presentable.

Please join us in thanking those recognized for their commitment to providing excellence
in customer service.

UPThe USF Police Department recently received notification that grant funds in the amount of $141,000 had been awarded to the agency via the State of Florida Buffer Zone Program. This award originates through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office for Domestic Preparedness, and the Regional Domestic Security Task Force for the purpose of fortifying response to domestic security issues, and hardening of vulnerable locations within the USF community.

Congratulations to Chief Tom Longo and team on receipt of another grant!

Another Beautiful TransformationAs the transformation of the USF Tampa Campus continues, we wanted to share the recent completion of space designed for the Department of Women's and Gender Studies. The department celebrated its fabulous new space with an Open House on Thursday, November 29th. Elizabeth Bell, Professor and Department Chair, and her staff expressed delight with their beautiful, functional, and welcoming new home.

Elizabeth Clifford, Facilities Planning & Construction, was the Project Manager on this wonderful space transformation.

Staff Senate Baked GoodsA popular tradition during week of finals is the Staff Senate's baked goods giveaway for students. Departments from across the university community provide tasty treats, encouragement and offer student information. The students greatly appreciate the baked goods and the support. This year's event took place on Monday, December 10th.

Christy Chefalas, Office Manager, Environmental Health and Safety, is Staff Senate President and also served as Chair of this year's baked goods giveaway committee. Please join us in thanking Christy and her committee members on doing their part to ensure the success of our students.

bearsA wonderful time was had by all who attended the Administrative Services/Business & Finance Holiday Luncheon on December 11, 2-4 p.m. in the MSC Ballroom. Everyone enjoyed the food, camaraderie and festivities. As is the tradition each year, there was a lively version of the "Twelve Days of Christmas."

The response to this year's adopted charity – the Rough Riders Teddy Bear Roundup – was phenomenal. The photo here shows some of the 487 bears generously donated by Administrative Services and Business & Finance employees. Thank you so much for your giving spirit! The Rough Riders were thrilled and your generosity will bring smiles and comfort to children throughout the year.

Congratulations to the "Creative Holiday Attire" Contest and Door Prize winners. We also want to thank the 2012 Holiday Party Committee Members for putting together another wonderful holiday luncheon. For a complete list of contest winners, donors/door prize winners, and our terrific holiday committee members, visit this website.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored a child (children) this holiday season. Your gifts will bring a lot of joy to children in the USF community.

The USF Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a gift that is available all year long!

With the holiday season approaching, maintaining a productive and fulfilling life requires a healthy mind and a healthy body. When life is quite simply "out of balance," leaving you feeling overwhelmed and stressed-out, the USF Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can help.

bellsAs another year comes to an end, I want to take this time to reflect on the major strides we've made towards meeting individual department goals and those of the university. We have much to celebrate and more opportunities to look forward to in the New Year. With your commitment and good work, we can continue to impact the university in so many ways and make a positive difference in the way that faculty, students, staff, and visitors work, play, learn, and live on our campus.

Thank you for your contributions in 2012. I am looking forward to a productive, successful and challenging year in 2013. On behalf of all of us in Administrative Services, I wish you and your families a safe, relaxing, and very joyful holiday season!
