NEW USF GRADUATE

GlenGlen Aleo, Assistant Manager, Building Maintenance & Operations, Physical Plant, graduated earlier this month from USF with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He is currently working on a second Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and is making preparations to start on a Master's degree in Public Administration. Glen has benefited from a Physical Plant scholarship, made possible by the generous contributions of employees to USF's Annual Faculty & Staff Campaign. As you can see from the photo taken with USF President Judy Genshaft, Glen is also a reservist in the Navy Seabees.

Please join us in congratulating Glen on this accomplishment and in wishing him much success in his future academic pursuits at USF.

SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY IN THE AREA OF LOT 1

SiteWork has begun on sidewalk improvements in the area of Lot 1 between Apple Drive and the Lee Roy Collins Parking Garage that will greatly enhance pedestrian safety around the south entrance to the Lee Roy Collins Parking Garage. Over the summer, the vehicle access to Lot 1 will be reconfigured to Apple Drive ONLY.

Once the improvements are complete, the current entrance off of Lee Roy Collins Blvd. will only provide access to the Collins Garage. Furthermore, a new pedestrian sidewalk will be constructed and will be connected to the existing sidewalk on the west side of the Collins Garage. There will be a single crossing point with a raised crosswalk. This will provide a safe separation of pedestrians and vehicles with no need for pedestrians to walk through Lot 1. More information will be provided as it is available.

A NEW TRADITION BEGINS

BullSeveral areas within Administrative Services recently worked with USF's Student Government Association (SGA) to procure and install a beautiful bull statute in front of the student entrance to the Sun Dome. The outgoing SGA officers wanted to create a memorable spot on campus and also to create a tradition for future students. SGA dedicated the bull statue as a symbol of good fortune to all and asks that before entering the Sun Dome, the hoof of the bull be touched as a kind gesture for success and prosperity.

We hope you will have an opportunity to stop by and see the university's newest bull statue. This photo was taken while the Physical Plants Grounds team was putting the final touches on landscaping in the area of the statue.

FACULTY & STAFF CAMPAIGN

There's still time to participate in this year's Faculty & Staff Campaign which ends June 30th. If you've already given, thank you for your support. For those who haven't yet participated, your gift no matter how large or small - even a dollar - will make a tremendous difference in providing continuing support to the many programs that benefit USF faculty and staff. USF's "unstoppable" employees and their contributions to the university's success have gained the university national attention.

With everyone's support, the University can reach an all-time high 42% participation rate. To give, visit this website.

2013 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN

For more than 80 years, United Way has helped millions of deserving people and has been the charitable partner for hundreds of Bay Area agencies, businesses and civic organizations. United Way has invested millions of dollars that directly and indirectly touch so many men, women and children in the Tampa Bay community.

Last year our faculty and staff contributions totaled over $42,000. This year the University is looking to continue making progress and hope to set a new record. If you are able to give this year, your support is greatly appreciated. The Division of Human Resources (HR) recently sent every employee an email with information regarding "how to give." If you didn't receive the email or have any questions, contact the HR Office at 813-974-2970.
