The Quiet Quality Awards is a campus-wide employee recognition program implemented by the USF Staff Senate, with strong support from the USF Administration in a collaborative effort to increase employee recognition. Candidates are evaluated based on conscientiousness, professional manner/positive attitude/interpersonal relationships, work performance, responsibilities, team-oriented, and suggestions for improving the USF experience. We encourage you to nominate a colleague who deserves such recognition. For more information on how to nominate an individual, visit the USF Staff Senate website.

We're pleased to announce a new feature on our Facilities Management website - Construction Projects in Progress. This has been a very busy summer with a number of wonderful transformations taking place across the Tampa campus. This web page will keep everyone updated on the terrific work being done to enhance the campus experience for USF's students, faculty and staff. The information will be updated as new projects come on line. Check out the web page and bookmark it so you can stay informed about upcoming campus transformations.

FlagCollege Colors Day is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that make the college experience great by encouraging people across America to wear apparel of their favorite college or university throughout the day. Celebrate College Colors Day on Friday, August 30th by wearing green and gold!

We'd love to see our Administrative Services employees proudly wearing their green and gold. Send your photos to Karla Willman at kwillman@usf.edu and we'll set up a page on our Flickr account and feature the photos in the next issue of our newsletter.

USF is also participating in the second annual College Colors Day spirit competition, and needs your help to win the national Spirit Cup award, which includes $10,000 toward the general scholarship fund. For more information on College Colors Day and how to participate in the spirit competition, read this article on Inside USF.

GreenThe University of South Florida is one of just 22 colleges and universities in the nation – and the only one in Floridato earn a spot on the Princeton Review's 2014 Green Rating Honor Roll recognizing excellence in sustainability-related practices, policies, and academic offerings. The project, now in its sixth year, measures how environmentally friendly the nation's higher education institutions are on a scale of 60 to 99. For its latest survey, the company tallied the scores from 832 campuses and USF is among the mere two percent to receive the highest possible score of 99. We are proud of the contributions made by Administrative Services units towards achieving this recognition. For more information, visit this website.

Stretch your way to better health. Making the effort to set aside time to stretch throughout the day can be beneficial to your health. Stretching helps increase blood flow and oxygen to your extremities and warms and loosens your muscles and tendons. It can help reduce sprains, strains and your risk of experiencing ergonomic injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis. Plus, you're doing your body a favor by relieving stress and recovering from muscle fatigue. For the "Basics of Stretching" and "Sample Stretches," visit this website.

WOWWeek of Welcome – The purpose of the Week of Welcome (WOW), held at the beginning of each Fall Semester, is to prepare new students for their first semester at USF. WOW was started by the Office of Student Activities, now known as the Center for Student Involvement. Dozens of events are held to give students an opportunity to socialize and learn about USF. The largest event of the week is Round-Up. Originally part fair and part pep rally, Round-Up has transformed into a huge showcase and comedy show for incoming students. Welcome to the Class of 2017!
