PINK FRIDAYS ARE BACK

PinkIn support of Breast Cancer Awareness, Administrative Services will celebrate with a variety of "Pink Friday" events during the month of October:

Friday, October 4th—Wearing Pink
Friday, October 11th—Planting Pink
Friday, October 18th - Serving Pink
Friday, October 25th—Giving Pink

Please join us in celebrating the Pink Warriors in our lives and help remind everyone of the importance of breast cancer screenings. Nearly 1 in every 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. When detected early, the disease has a high recovery rate. We all have someone dear to us - a mother, aunt, sister, daughter, cousin, or friend – that has courageously faced or will face the challenges of breast cancer. Promoting awareness to women through early detection is essential in the fight against breast cancer.

Details for each Friday event will be sent out in advance via email. Information about the Friday, October 4th, event will be sent out via email early next week.

THINK SAFE – BE SAFE

FireFire Safety Training October 9th! Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) is joining forces with the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to remind the campus community to "Prevent Kitchen Fires." This is the theme for the 2013 National Fire Prevention Week fire safety campaign, which runs from October 6 to 11. EH&S will be spreading the word about the dangers of kitchen fires--most of which result from unattended cooking—and teaching the USF community on how to prevent kitchen fires from starting in the first place.

Join EH&S and the Office of the State Fire Marshal as they conduct fire extinguisher training and provide campus and dorm fire safety tips Wednesday, October 9th from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the south side of the Marshall Center. Participation in this campaign is an important awareness step that may save your life and that of someone you love.

For more information on how to "Prevent Kitchen Fires," click here to view a Fire Safety Tip Sheet.
