For Admitted Freshman Students

Congratulations on your admission to the University of South Florida! You are now among an elite group of students who have proven themselves to be among the best and brightest, and we look forward to welcoming you to the USF family. To assist in making your transition to USF as smooth as possible, please follow the following checklist to ensure you complete enrollment requirements:

  1. Submit any Remaining Residency Documentation.  If you believe you are eligible for Florida Residency for Tuition Purposes and were not confirmed as a Florida resident during the admissions process, please complete a Residency Form with your parent/guardian’s information and send it to us. Some scholarships require Florida residency, so please complete this as soon as possible.
  2. Send Updated ACT/SAT Scores.  Send Updated ACT/SAT Scores. Besides being used in the admissions process, your standardized test scores are used for scholarship and Honors College eligibility and to determine course placement. For these reasons, please make sure we continue to receive new or updated test scores so we can act with your best interest in mind.
  3. Apply for Financial Aid.  All students, regardless of family income, should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  If you are entering in the fall semester, you may submit the 2009 – 2010 FAFSA form after January 1, 2009. If you are entering in the summer term, you may submit the 2008 – 2009 FAFSA now. FAFSA forms must be submitted for every academic year for aid to be awarded. Our priority deadline for new students is March 1 to receive maximum consideration for awards.
  4. Search for Scholarships.  Everyone wants free money and there are many scholarship opportunities on USF’s campus. Visit our Scholarship Resources website to search for awards that may be a good fit for you.
  5. Make your Final College Selection.  While you have been admitted, we understand you may be considering all your options. We encourage you to attend a Campus Visit Experience to see first-hand if USF is the best fit for you.
  6. Submit your $200 Enrollment Deposit by May 1.  This non-refundable deposit is what holds your spot in our freshman class. Submit this once you decide that USF is the best fit for your college education. Take until May 1st if you need it, but do not forget this critical deadline. And, if you decide not to attend USF, please email or write us so that we might offer a space to someone on our waiting list.
  7. Register for Orientation. All incoming freshmen are required to attend a two-day orientation session. During this event you will meet with an academic advisor, register for courses, learn more about USF, and meet other incoming students. You must submit your enrollment deposit before you will be allowed to register for orientation.
  8. Complete the Housing Contract.  Living on campus has many benefits, including a higher likelihood to stay in school and graduate.  For this reason, USF now requires all new freshmen to live on campus for their first year.
  9. Send your Immunization Form.  State of Florida law requires all students enrolling at a Florida public college/university to have immunizations for measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) and USF encourages students to get immunizations for meningitis and hepatitis B.
  10. Submit your Final Transcripts. Once you have completed high school, request that your guidance counselor/registrar send us a final copy of your transcripts within thirty (30) days of your graduation. If you do not submit these, a hold will be placed on your record and you will not be able to register for future semesters.
  11. Send Dual Enrollment Transcripts. If you took college courses while in high school, arrange for an official transcript from that college(s) be sent to us. This is the only way for us to award credit for these courses. As with high school transcripts, failure to submit postsecondary transcripys will result in a hold being placed on future registration.
  12. Request Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate Scores.  We want to reward you for your efforts, so request official scores for these tests to be sent to us. We will not be able to award credits without this documentation.
