Language Requirements (TOEFL/IELTS)
All international applicants for whom English is not the native tongue must provide proof of competence in the English language.
International applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (internet-based test) or 550 (written test), or minimum IELTS score of 6.5 taken within 2 years of the desired term of entry. See below for a list of English Speaking Countries for a list of nations from which an applicant will not be required to submit TOEFL scores. NOTE: Positive results on the SAT (Critical Reading and Writing) or ACT (English/Writing and Reading) may be used to waive the TOEFL/IELTS requirement.
Applicants who are unable to meet this requirement should contact INTO University of South Florida for information on its Academic English program for international students.
INTO University of South Florida also offers freshman international applicants who do not fully meet University of South Florida admission requirements for English language proficiency an Undergraduate Pathways program. For more information regarding Pathways, please see the INTO USF website.
