Former USF Student Returning

A former USF student returning is any degree-seeking undergraduate student who has not earned his/her degree, who has not been enrolled at USF in any of the last three consecutive terms, and who wishes to re-enroll in the University. Otherwise, you are considered a continuing student and can still register.

If you are a former USF student and would like to be considered for readmission, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete application no later than 20 business days prior to the first day for your desired term of entry and pay $30.00 application fee
  • Be eligible to return to the University of South Florida and having a 2.00 cumulative USF GPA
  • Be in good standing and eligible to return to the last institution attended as a degree-seeking student
  • Have achieved a GPA of at least 2.0 as calculated by USF on a 4.0 scale on all college-level academic courses attempted at institution(s) attended since last enrolled at USF
  • If you have previously enrolled at USF and were academically dismissed at the end of your last term of enrollment or have a cumulative USF GPA less than 2.00, you must file an ARC petition in conjunction with your application for admission

Second Bachelors Degree

As a former USF student returning seeking to a second bachelor's degree, please be advised that it may be difficult for you to secure courses in the proper sequence for a timely graduation. Please check with the department of your intended major regarding the availability of upper-level courses in that major.

All former students returning who earned a baccalaureate degree at USF are required to:

If you have completed coursework at USF, it is not necessary to submit official copies of your USF transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

NOTE: If your intent is to meet prerequisites or to raise your postsecondary GPA for graduate or professional school, you should apply as a non-degree seeking student, not for a second bachelor’s degree.

Transfer Credits

If you have attended one or more institutions since your last enrollment, you are required to send official transcripts* of all coursework attempted at the other institution(s) to the Admissions Office. Acceptability of transfer credits toward completion of USF degree programs will be determined by the college of the student's major.

Note: If you have completed coursework at USF, it is not necessary to submit official copies of your USF transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Orientation  Requirements

If you are a former student returning who has been readmitted, you are not required to participate in an orientation program. Former students returning will be assigned a registration appointment time by the Office of Orientation. It is recommended that a former student returning make an appointment to see their academic advisor prior to course registration.

Transient Students and Non-degree Seeking

Transient students and non-degree seeking students are not considered former students returning. These students who wish to enter as degree-seeking students must file an application with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions prior to the deadline listed on the transfer admissions website.
