Lower Level Requirements
USF admits both lower level (36 to 59 transferable credits)** and upper level (60+ transferable credits) transfer applicants.
For lower level transfer applicants with 36 to 59 transferable credits, USF requires a 3.00 transfer or postsecondary GPA. Students applying to the Pre-Nursing program of study are required to have a 3.50 transfer or postsecondary GPA. Lower level applicants may apply only to USF Tampa and USF St. Petersburg.
Lower-level applicants are required to submit the following items:
- Application for admission
- Non-refundable $30 application fee.
- Official high school transcript(s)
- Official SAT or ACT scores
- Official GED, if applicable
- Official TOEFL or IELTS scores, if applicable
- Official transcript from each college or university attended* (current up to time of application).
- Any college or university work that was completed at a non-U.S. institution must be submitted along with a course by course Foreign Credential Evaluation from a Credential Evaluation Service.
*Electronic transcripts transmitted to USF from the Florida College System do not include courses from other colleges/universities.
**Beginning with summer semester, 2010, USF will consider lower level transfers who have completed at least 30 transferable semester credits with a 3.0 transfer GPA.
Note: A former USF student returning is any degree-seeking undergraduate student who has not earned his/her degree, who has not been enrolled at USF in any of the last three consecutive terms, and who wishes to re-enroll in the University. Otherwise, you are considered a continuing student and can still register.
