Safety: Adventure Racing is a challenging sport, and teamwork and good sportsmanship are necessary parts of ensuring safety at the event. Please pay attention to not only your teammate but other participants as well. If someone needs help, courteously stop and assist them to the best of your ability. Also, please come prepared not only physically, but mentally and logistically. Specific safety considerations include: dehydration/hyponatremia, exposure/hypothermia, leptosporosis/other bacteria, wildlife (birds, snakes, spiders, mosquitoes, etc.), and travel through rugged terrain (twisted ankles, sprains, cuts, bruises, etc.). In terms of weather, expect anything; it may be hot, humid, cold, windy, or wet. Please be prepared for any type of weather to occur at any point during the day. Check local weather forecasts before the event. We will have at least one Wilderness First Responder on site and access to local emergency rescue; however, it is also suggested that at least one member of each team be First Aid certified.
