Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Pride Event are celebrated by communities across Canada and United States on different dates during June through to early August. There is a Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney, Australia annually in February/March. During this time people find that they are not alone and can take pride in their community's history. The three-day Stonewell Rebellion was a landmark event forcing equality for the community under the law. In 1999, Gay and Lesbian Month was made a national celebration by presidential proclamation.

A month long recognition and celebration of the achievements and contributions of Latinos, their history and their culture. The week long recognition began in 1968 to coincide with the independence days of the Central American Nations and Mexico. It was expanded to a month in 1988 by Federal legislation. Runs through October 15th.

Congress designated each October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). The Office of Disability Employment Policy has the lead in planning NDEAM activities and materials to increase the public's awareness of the contributions and skills of American workers with disabilities. Various programs carried out throughout the month also highlight the specific employment barriers that still need to be addressed and removed.
