Annual Salary:
$80,000 – negotiable, based on
market and experience
The USF Development Office builds relationships,
generates interest and inspires confidence among the
university’s constituents to attract private funding to
advance teaching, research creative expression and
community engagement.
Duties:
The Director of Development - Scholarships builds
relationships with the University’s various
constituents; indentifies, cultivates and solicits
prospects and closes private, major gifts on behalf of
the university to advance the university’s mission and
goals. The Director of Development- Scholarships will
bring leadership, versatility and imagination to
strategic planning initiatives that are designed for
success. The Director will play a key role in securing
scholarship support for fast paced, dynamic academic
programs university-wide. The Director will coordinate
with the various college program development officers
and faculty members to encourage the identification,
cultivation and solicitation of potential scholarship
prospects to increase charitable revenue for scholarship
programs. The Director will be a part of the USF
Foundation development team and will collaborate with
high-level institutional officials, policy board
members, colleagues and donors.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s
degree and five years of experience in development or
related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree. Five or more years of directly
related experience in development and fundraising,
preferably in higher education, but other not-for-profit
institutes may be acceptable. Must have an
understanding of the nature of philanthropy as it
relates to higher education and the ability to
communicate the critical role of scholarship support in
insuring the success of the research, teaching and
outreach mission of the university to diverse groups of
constituents. Strong preference given for candidates
with a proven record of major gift fundraising for
scholarships and academic programs from diverse sources.
