Duties: This
is advanced professional work which involves developing
and performing novel biological procedures,
collaborating with faculty in analyzing findings, and
presenting research project results. After learning new
techniques, work is performed with technical
independence and is reviewed principally by observation
of results obtained. Responsibilities may include the
teaching and supervision of other laboratory personnel.
Designs and develops molecular studies and uses cutting
edge technology in embryonic and hematopoietic stem cell
research and methods of altering gene expression in
cells using lentiviral vectors to transduce genes and
inhibitory RNAs into stem cells.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a
biological science discipline and 2 years of research
lab experience. Of the 2 years of research lab
experience required, at least one year of research
laboratory experience with a broad range of cell and
molecular biology techniques and cell culture are
required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in a biological science discipline is
highly desirable. Prior research laboratory experience
in stem cell or hematopoiesis research, use of
retroviral and lentiviral vectors, transcription
factors, microRNA and siRNA is highly desirable.
Experience with internet research, PubMed, Microsoft
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, EndNote, and graphics
and photo editing software is very desirable as well.
