Careers@USF Rolls Out in August

Careers@USF, USF’s new online, automated recruitment and position description system, is scheduled for implementation in August.

Apply for positions.  For all open Faculty, Staff, Administration and Temporary positions, Careers@USF will allow applicants to search job postings, apply for open positions, attach resumes and other supporting materials, answer questions from hiring managers, and track the status of their job applications, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all online.

Manage the hiring process.  Hiring managers and departments will be able to view applications, and take action all online, resulting in a more efficient and faster job placement process.  Hiring and DEO reports will be automatically generated by the system.  EEO Liaisons will be able to certify an applicant pool in seconds, all online.

Additional advantages include

  • Accessibility, on or off campus, from any computer with internet access

  • Less paper to handle, lose and file

  • An easy system to track the progress of approvals

  • A way to screen applications quickly

  • Automated recruitment reports

  • Automated notifications to applicants

  • Fewer phone calls from applicants checking their status

  • A way to help USF “Go Green”

  • An automated process that allows everyone to “work smarter”

Training classes are enrolling now.  Heavy users of the recruitment system are invited to enroll right away.  Training will be offered on an on-going basis for anyone involved in the recruitment process for their area.

New Procedures for Hiring FWS Student Employees

If you will be supervising an FWS student or administering your department’s processes associated with the Federal Work Study program, you should plan to attend a training session for FWS & SSE hiring departments on new procedures for Financial Aid Student Employment Programs.

The training session is offered twice:

July 7, 2009 from 10 – 11:30 AM in BSN 115 (College of Business)

July 9, 2009 from 1:30 – 3 PM in the TECO Room (College of Education)

Not following the new procedures could put a department at risk for leaving FWS positions unfunded and/or result in a department having to pay back some of their students’ earnings.

Topics covered in the training include:

  • Review of Changes Effective 2009 – 2010 (including new Summer Student Employment program)

  • Overview of Financial Aid Student Employment Programs

  • Role of Financial Aid

  • Role of Vice President/Dean Area

  • Advertising Your Position & Reporting Your Hire

  • Role of Hiring Department

  • Appointment Process

  • Pay Distribution Process

Search Committee Meetings Notices Now Posted on the Web

Search committee meeting notices are now posted on the Search Committee Meeting Notices Calendar.  Previously, notices were posted on the USFNEWS and USFTALK listservs, where they could be viewed only by individuals with a USF email address.  By moving the notices to the website calendar, they are now globally accessible.

During the recruiting process, search committees must be formed when recruiting for Faculty or Director level positions and above.  When search committee meetings are scheduled, Florida law requires reasonable notice (typically 3 days) of the meeting’s time and place, and information on requesting disability accommodation.

To view the calendar, from the top of the USF home page (and many other USF web pages), click Calendars and select Search Committee Meeting Notices.  For questions about recruiting, responsibilities of search committees, or other HR issues, contact your Service Center.  For assistance with the calendar, contact Chuck Welsh or Chris Sharp in HR at (813) 974-2970.
