Creating or
Updating your GEMS Bookmark
There is no change to the URL for accessing GEMS and Self Service however
bookmarks may need to be updated.
PeopleSoft has programmed certain defaults into its web access instructions,
due to these defaults PeopleSoft application pages should not be bookmarked,
rather the specific URL (web address) should be saved. Users can always
access GEMS via the Sign into GEMS link on the GEMS Website.
To
update your GEMS Bookmark and to correctly save a link to GEMS follow these instructions:
Drag and
drop the short cut into your browser's favorites folder or follow the
steps below.
1.
Start the URL
https://gems.fastmail.usf.edu/gemspro/signon.html
2.
Click on the tab Favorites, then Add to Favorites
3.
Click on the tab Favorites, Organize Favorites
4.
Locate the one you just saved from the list displayed and right click it
5.
Select properties
6.
Change the URL link to the link in Step 1.
7.
Click Apply, OK then close
If your GEMS Bookmark address contains “servlets/iclientservlet” it will no
longer be valid. The PeopleSoft URLs change when you click on them to
access the Sign In pages. The new URL changes to included “psp” when
you access the sign in page. Users need to bookmark the link that does
not include “psp” as outlined in the instructions above.
If you have trouble accessing GEMS, you can send an email to the Help Desk
at
helpdesk@admin.usf.edu or log a problem ticket at
www.usf.edu./helpdesk.
Default Password Format
If your password was issued before April 19, 2005 the format has not
altered and is as follows: the last 4-digits of your Social Security Number
THEN your 4-digit year of birth THEN a period. Example: 12341943.
For those hired after April 14th, 2005 a new password formula will be
used. Your
User ID is your full 11 digit Employee ID. The first time you log in, your
default password is the combination of the last 4 digits of your Social
Security Number, an equal sign, and your 4-digit year of birth. Example:
1234=1943
Forgot Password
Only
pre-set password hint questions
will work after the upgrade. If you created a custom question in GEMS, for
your Forgot Password setup, please login to GEMS and update it to a standard
hint question.
