The Training Network serves training professionals at
USF. The network provides a forum for members to:
· advance their
knowledge and skills as trainers
· collaborate to
improve professional learning at USF
· interact and
exchange ideas with other training professionals

Training Network Format:
Network meetings will be held once a month for 1 ½ hours. Six
topics of importance have been identified for the 07-08
year*. They are:
1.
Becoming a Learning Organization
2.
Learning Organization’s: The Trainer’s Role
3.
Building Credibility for the Training Function
4.
Training Needs Assessment
5.
Surveys from Start to Finish
6.
Understanding Core Competencies
*Topics will be added and/or modified as needed
Two months will be dedicated to each topic. One month will focus on
professional development—how to improve training
knowledge and skills. The following month will focus on
process improvement—how to achieve better outcomes.
Sample Network Meeting Agendas:
Topic #4: Training Needs Assessment
Professional Development Meeting Agenda:

Follow-up: Review previous month’s topic (outcomes and
application)
·
Presentation: Present best practices in data collection and needs
assessment
·
Application: Identify how to transfer learning to our work
environment
Process Improvement Meeting Agenda:
Apply the following method to improve the needs assessment process:
1.
Define the current reality
2.
Define the desired reality
3.
Identify resources and obstacles
4.
Brainstorm ways to bridge the gap
5.
Try it out—implement and monitor trials
6.
Apply learning to improve the process
Roles:
Subject matter presenters will rotate throughout the year and will
include:

training
network members,
·
subject/practice experts in the USF community, or
·
experts from
outside of USF.
Presenters will identify, organize, and share best practice
information, relevant to the meeting’s topic.
ODT facilitators serve as hosts, coordinators and process managers
for the network.
