Mission Statement
The mission of Students with Disabilities Services is to operationalize
the University's commitment to diversity through careful, diligent,
respectful services for USF students with disabilities, the faculty
and staff of USF. The mission includes assuring that University
policy regarding students with disabilities is implemented in ways
consistent with federal and state laws in providing academic support
and accommodations to students with disabilities.
In addition, to adhering to the University's global mission which
encompasses teaching, research, and service including community
collaboration.
Services
We provide these and other services to qualified students with
disabilities:
Books on tape
Sign language interpreters
Accommodated class examinations
- extra time
- quiet environment
- ervices of a scribe or reader
- use of computers while taking a test
Consultation
- Housing and Residential Education
- Faculty
- Administrative Services
Referral to other departments
Collaboration with agencies outside the university
Accommodations
Accommodations are designed to compensate for the impact of a student’s
specific disability. Accommodations may vary from class to class.
Accommodations include but not limited to:
- Permission to tape record lectures (audio)
- Services of note-takers
- Services of ASL interpreters
- Transcription of lectures
- Announcements in auditory format
- Extra time or reduced-stimulus examination environment
- Use of computers for examinations
- Services of scribes or readers for examinations
