The business of the Board of Trustees is conducted through three workgroups composed of Trustees, administrators, faculty, staff and USF Foundation representatives. These workgroups focus on the University’s attainment of institutional goals the Board adopted on December 6, 2001. Workgroups will review and recommend policies to enhance University effectiveness and efficiency in attaining these goals, and periodically will assess the effectiveness of the University in implementing the policies of the governing board.

The Workgroup on Academics and Campus Environment focuses on issues involving the following administrative units: Academic Affairs, Health Sciences, Student Affairs, Intercollegiate Athletics, Facilities Planning and Construction, Regional Campuses.

The Workgroup will review and recommend to the Board policies for enhancing undergraduate and graduate studies, diversity and University life.


Workgroup’s responsibilities include:

• Academic Issues: Programs (Undergraduate, Graduate, and Professional) – New program approval, program review & interdisciplinary programs.

• Faculty Issues: Tenure and Promotion, development and academic policies.

• Student Issues and Policies: Housing, judicial procedures, Health Center procedures, University Police.

• Strategic Planning and Accountability: Student admissions and success, retention/graduation rates, Strategic Plan, Board of Governor’s plan, national and professional accreditations, Diversity/Equal Opportunity Annual Equity Report, Title IX

• Rules

• Intercollegiate Athletics

• Facilities: Real estate (new/current), Master Plan, campus enhancements.
