Why I Chose USF
At first, my reasoning for looking at schools in Florida was superficial—I wanted to be close to the beach! But as my junior and senior year of high school passed, I realized I needed to think more deeply about this decision. I finally realized, sure, the beach is awesome, but what am I going to do the other 90 percent of the time? Once I got serious about my college decision, USF was the obvious choice. It had everything I wanted — countless options for my major, a beautiful campus with great student housing, competitive athletic teams, phenomenal weather, and the list could keep going on.
I intern with USF Athletics in the Event Management Department. That has been an awesome experience because I hope to work for a college’s athletic department after graduation. I have been able to work with not only football, but also men’s and women’s tennis, softball, baseball and men’s golf.
Life Outside the Classroom
When the weather is nice and my homework is done, I probably average two to three beach trips a week! If I’m not at the beach, I love attending USF sporting events. They’re fun social events and also a great way to show school spirit. Our new Campus Recreation Center is also a really fun place to work out, and Tampa is awesome because there is always so much to do. My friends and I go shopping, see movies, go out dancing, and try new restaurants. I am never bored!
Big Campus, Personal Connections
I love that even though USF is a huge university, people know you on campus. You can be as involved or uninvolved on campus as you want and you’ll always feel at home.
