Why I Chose USF
Of the 10 different schools I was accepted to and visited, USF was the only one that valued me as an individual student. I loved the youthful, positive, and growth-oriented energy at USF and immediately knew that it was the kind of school I wanted to have a hand in shaping. USF has given me so many incredible opportunities from day one, and it just keeps getting better.
I have done research in the history department, concerning the founding of the American Red Cross, humanitarian aid, and the international progressive era. Through the Honors College, I also conducted research on health care in Panama, and I did an internship researching microfinance initiatives for women in the slums of Pune, India.
The University Lecture Series is my favorite activity at USF. There are always so many different speakers and performers and so many unique experiences (like breaking a world record with the crew of The Buried Life and eating dinner with 60 Minutes reporter Lara Logan). I also love the outdoor recreation center and campus recreation facilities at USF. My favorite thing is Riverfront Park, where my friends and I go kayaking and canoeing regularly.
Favorite Spot on Campus
I love sunsets from the top of the Beard Parking Garage. You can see the whole Tampa skyline, USF’s campus, and Busch Gardens. We’re located in a great area!
The Honors College and Study Abroad
My favorite class at USF was the first honors class I ever took, “Health Care in Panama: Beyond the Classroom.” At the end of my first semester at USF I got to travel to Panama, and the people I met in that class have become some of my closest friends in the years since.
