Next Steps for Admitted International Transfer Students

Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of South Florida! We know that deciding to transfer to another university is a big decision, and we want you to feel comfortable that you’re making the right choice.

Activate Your Net ID

We want to stay in touch! If you haven’t already done so, visit and activate your USF NetID and USF email address. Your USF email address will be used by all University offices for official communication. If you did not receive the four-digit code needed to activate your NetID, please call the Office of International Admissions.

Verify Personal Information

Log in to and verify that your address, telephone number and email addresses are current. Make updates if necessary.

Apply for Housing & Meal Plan

Review on-campus housing options and meal plans. Housing assignments are made based on the date of a completed housing application. To ensure you receive your preferred housing assignment, do not delay!

Submit Medical History

All new students must submit the official USF Medical History form and provide proof of immunizations to Student Health Services prior to registering for classes. Students living on campus must provide evidence of Meningitis vaccination to receive a housing assignment.

Purchase or Provide Proof of Health Insurance

Submit the Student Health Insurance Compliance Form prior to the start of the semester. Florida law requires all international students to have medical insurance. Medical insurance is available through Student Health Services.

Submit Visa Documents

Submit all required documentation to International Services if you will be attending USF on a student visa (F-1 or J-1).

Register for Orientation

All new students must attend an orientation session. Once you have activated your NetID you may register for your preferred orientation date.

Submit Final Academic Credentials

If you are currently attending a college or university in the U.S., make sure your final grades and/or degrees are submitted to the Office of International Admissions. If you are still enrolled in a foreign college, be sure to have your final transcripts evaluated and sent to the Office of International Admissions.

Complete Foreign Language Requirements

You must complete, with passing grades, two years of the same foreign language in high school or 8 to 10 hours at the post-secondary level. If you completed this requirement in high school, submit an official high school transcript to Undergraduate Admissions. If you do not meet this requirement, you must do so prior to graduation.

Review Your Transfer Credits

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will evaluate your transcript to determine which credits are transferrable to USF. The college of your major will assign equivalent courses in determining which courses are applicable toward a specific degree at USF.

Review Tuition and Fees

USF does not mail tuition bills. Once you are registered for classes, check your tuition due at Sign up for e-deposit to permit financial aid and student refunds to be directly deposited into your personal bank account. You may open a U.S. bank account through the USF Credit Union.

Wrap up Final Details

Obtain your USF ID card from the USF Card Center. If you plan to park on campus, purchase your USF parking permit. Purchase your textbooks from the USF Bookstore.
