Why USF?...
I decided to attend USF because they were willing to help finance my education in conjunction with Bright Futures. I was amazed that USF understood the importance of allowing their students to focus on attaining an education and not on how to find money to pay for it.

Student activities ...
I am the Executive Director of the Campus Activity Board (CAB) , and Ambassador and Event and Program Director for Stampede of Service. My involvement with student organizations has made the academia of class applicable to the real world and the rest of my life. My involvement has been motivation for me to learn time management skills, professionalism, public speaking and how to conduct myself in any situation. Involvement at USF is essential in having a complete university.

Activities ...
Most of the time I stay on campus because there is plenty of entertainment for free, but if I am feeling for something different, I go and enjoy Tampa's vibrant Spanish life.

Research ...
I have done research on the economic status of women in the Dominican Republic and this has made me aware of what women all over the world are struggling through. It also put into perspective how the world has become intermingled in that the actions of one nation have an effect in many other nations.

Professors ...
My favorite professors have been all my professors in the Africana Studies Department such as Dr. Plant and Dr. Kissi. They challenge their students to analytically think, write, sympathize and learn from different perspectives that have previously been ignored. The research and experience of my professors in their field fuels passion in their students on any topic. I also have to give credit to my Economics advisor, Ms. Bartlett, because she never leads me astray or become discouraged with my education. My professors and advisors really do become your support team and cheer you all the way to graduation.

Metropolitan area ...
Coming from Tallahassee, everything is either centered around politics or the universities. In Tampa, the culture, entertainment and history shines just as brightly as politics and the universities. Being in a metropolitan city has enabled my ability to access better opportunities.

Multiculturalism ...
USF is a preview of what the real world is going to be like. No longer can people ignore or be ignorant about those around them or in the world. USF provides a safe and open venue to ask questions and grow from other cultures, races, ethnicities and religions.

Global ...
By providing classes that are focused on international affairs, having instructors that have researched internationally and organizations on campus that are internationally based. It was at USF that I discovered International Student Volunteers where I volunteered in the Dominican Republic for a month.
