Why USF?...
I had heard from some people about USF and everything I heard was
positive. Then I went to see the campus and I love it! I was also
very impressed with the variety of different majors and graduate
programs that the university offered. This was definitely a plus since I
wanted to be part of a university that was well-rounded and provided
their students with different majors to choose from. |

First Day...
My first day of classes at USF went well. I felt somewhat overwhelmed
since USF is very big, but luckily I had a map with me to know
where things were. The professors were welcoming. One of my first
thoughts and feelings was that USF seemed like a place that would have a
lot to offer by challenging me at an academic and personal level. |

Living the campus life ...
Yes I lived on campus during my sophomore year, and it was a very
good experience. This really allowed me to focus in school and this is
when I started becoming involved with student organizations. I met many new
people and developed different friendships. I met one of my now best
friends while living on-campus.

Student activities ...
Throughout my USF career, I have been member of different student
organizations such as the Latin American Student Association,
PRIDE
Alliance, Engineers without Boarders,
Society of Hispanic Professional
Engineers, and others. I’ve held officer positions as president, public
relations, web master and secretary for different student organizations.
Besides these I have been involved with intramural sports such as soccer
and dodge ball. My soccer team has won two consecutive years in the women’s
tournament. I have
also been involved with community service and have been part of
different service projects with
Volunteer USF. Another
way I've helped the community is by being part of
ENLACE days through
ENLACE.
ENLACE has not only allowed me
to give to the community but they have been one of the organizations
that has supported me the most while my stay here at USF. Due to these experiences,
I have gained many different skills and understanding for others. I think
all of these experiences have not only provided me with fun and
unforgettable times at USF but they have provided me with lessons to
prepare better for the professional world.

Activities ...
I enjoy going to the recreation center, going to River Front Park
for canoeing and the ropes course, going to the plays and concerts that
the Music and
Theatre department have, and going to different events
offered by student organizations and the
Campus Activities Board. |

Professors ...
Overall, my experience with professors has been very good and they
have always been there when I needed help with classes. One of my
favorite professors is Dr. G. Grewal. She is a
professor in the women’s studies department. She is one of my favorites
because she allowed her students to be themselves and explore the
subject being studied in a very desirable way. She had great respect for
all her students in her class. Another favorite professor is Dr. Turner
in the engineering department. He is one of my favorite because he
teaches hands-on programming, his projects are challenging but fun and
he is always there to help when in need. |

Multiculturalism ...
USF attracts students all around the world and you share the USF
culture with them. While being at USF, I have had the opportunity of
developing friendships with people from different parts of the world
such as India, England, the Middle East, South America and other places.
This experience opened my eyes and taught me that there are other
cultures out there that are as important as my own and the importance of
respecting those differences. Also, by knowing people from different
places makes you a well-rounded individual because you learn new things
about other cultures and other countries. |
 |
Metropolitan area ...
The USF location in Tampa affects me in the sense that it is hard to
consider other schools for graduate school because USF offers everything
I want. Also, Tampa is a diverse place and I have developed an
attachment for this community. |
 |
Global ...
USF has helped me to think globally by allowing me to interact with
students all over the world. I have also learned to think globally by taking
classes that look at the world, its people, and problems that there are all
around. Campus events and volunteer projects have also opened my eyes as they
stress the importance to think globally. |
