Why USF?...
I liked how they offer a BioMedical Sciences degree. It is basically
in between Chemistry and Biology and offer a little bit of both. I
wanted more of a diverse course-load, not as specific but still
challenging. |
 |
First Day...
I was extremely nervous. The buildings looked bigger than they
actually were. I was the one walking around with the campus map in front
of my face trying to find my way. Everyone was so welcoming and helped
me out. |

Living the Campus Life...
Yes. I lived on campus for my first two years, in Holly. It was the
best experience ever. If it wasn’t for living on campus I would’ve never
met my two best friends. |

Student activities ...
I am currently the secretary for Alpha Epsilon Delta, which is a
Premedical Honor Society. We provide our members with various volunteer
opportunities and activities to allow them to grow as individuals and as
pre-med students.
I am also a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters, I have been
doing that for 2 years and it is worthwhile. This allows me to be a
friend to a young boy who doesn’t have a positive role model in his
life.
I participated in Alternative Spring Break last year to SC and I am a
site leader this year to the same trip. I would recommend ASB to
everyone and anyone.
Stampede of Service 2008 was a great success, and I was on the
Leadership Board. I helped organize sites in which USF students would go
and participate in service. This allowed me to interact with various
types of people and I definitely do not regret it.
If it is one thing I could say, it would be to GET INVOLVED!! All
these activities I do because I want to become a better person for my
community and for the world. |

Activities ...
Definitely the Muvico movie theatres, its close and offers the best
movies. If you want to go a little out of your way, Ybor and Channelside
are nice trips. They have different types of restaurants and things to
do. |
 |
Professors ...
The professors are so helpful in all aspects. They try to accommodate
the students and usually are able to. I have a lot of favorite
professors. My English Composition teacher Mrs. Knutsen, I have known
her since I was a freshmen and she is awesome. Dr. Cleveland, my Biology
I and II professor, she has so many stories to tell and I would
recommend her to anyone taking Biology. |

Research ...
At first, I was very nervous at the lab where I do research. I did not
know any of the techniques they used and procedures they followed. Now,
I am so happy I did. Conducting research provides me with the experience
I deserve to succeed in medical school as well as becoming a physician
and a citizen in my community. I am learning how to write a proper
research paper and present my data for the Undergraduate Research
Symposium in April. |
 |
Multiculturalism ...
I LOVE IT! The many cultural clubs that are on campus and the
performances they put on, especially during International Week is
incredible, and the food is delicious! |
 |
Metropolitan area ...
Tampa is a growing and bustling city with new hospitals and clinics
being built very often. Tampa is a very promising medically oriented
city, with Moffitt Cancer Center, Shriner’s Hospital for Children as
well as Hope Lodge right here on campus. It offers any premedical
student a wide range of specialties. |
 |
Global ...
Thanks to the BioAdvise listserv I might attend a Public and
Environmental Health trip to Kenya this summer. They send out emails about
various opportunities given to students. I already applied. Cross your fingers!! |
