These are applicants who have been granted indefinite stay in th U.S., or hold a visa type that allows them to go to school at American institutions, and include:
If you are unsure if your visa type allows you to study in the United States, please contact the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for information.Unlike F-1 students, these applicants do not need to submit financial documents verifying their ability to fund their studies. However, non F-1 visa holders must provide copies of all immigration documents issued to them related to their immigration status within the U.S., and are still required to check in with International Student and Scholar Services before they will be allowed to register for classes if they are admitted.Examples of Immigration Documents that Should be Submitted by non F-1 Visa Holders
Application deadlines for non F-1 applicants are also later than those for students requiring an I-20, since these applicants are already in the United States and do not need to apply for an F-1 visa in their home countries.
