Admissions Timeline for Freshmen

Applying to college should never be a last-minute decision. You have the best opportunities for admission, financial aid and scholarships if you plan wisely. Here are our suggestions. You should also check out additional information at Get Ready For College.

September -

Apply to USF in the fall of your senior year in high school. You should receive your admissions notification within 3-6 weeks after all your application materials have been received by USF.

Schedule a visit to campus.

• Begin your search for scholarships. Note that some freshman scholarships at USF require that you apply for admission by December 31.

November -

• Don't forget to visit us this fall! Admission requirements, the application process, academics, financial aid, residence life and student activities are discussed in the information sessions and tours.

December -

• Prepare to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

• Expect an invitation to one of our exciting events exclusively for admitted freshmen.

• Visit our campus and attend day-long programs in January, February, March, or April where you can meet students, faculty and staff.

January -

• Complete your FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1st to determine your financial aid eligibility. (It's okay to estimate your taxes.) Be sure to list USF's school code, which is 001537. Submit your FAFSA no later than March 1st, the priority deadline.

February -

• Watch the mail for your Student Housing Contract and other sign-up forms for on-campus residence halls and the meal plan.

March -

• Submit your completed FAFSA by March 1st. USF's federal school code is 001537.

• Check the mail for an invitation to Orientation. Scheduled during June, July and early August. Orientation introduces you to campus through freshmen advising sessions, student meetings and fun activities. Course selection and registration for classes complete the program. Be sure to complete the Orientation Reservation Form on time.

• Make sure that your Medical History/Immunization Form is returned to Student Health Services on time. These forms are sent with your admissions notification and are required for registration.

April - May

• Pay the $200 non-refundable admissions deposit by May 1 to secure your place in the freshman class.

June/July/August -

• Summer term begins in July.

• Attend one of the USF Orientation sessions.

Late August -

• Move into your residence hall.

• Classes begin. (Visit the Academic Calendar for exact semester dates.)
