meet the trustees
Margarita R. Cancio, M.D. is a native of Cuba, and immigrated to Florida from Spain. She currently serves as Clinical Professor, Department of Internal Medicine at the USF College of Medicine. Hospital appointments have included chief of the Department of Internal Medicine and chief of staff for Tampa General Hospital (TGH). Dr. Cancio has served as trustee for the Florida Health Science Board and the TGH Foundation Board. She is the founder and medical director of the International Traveler's Clinic and Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa as well as the Kidcare program. An alumna of USF, Dr. Cancio graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1979 and with an MD in 1982. Her Board of Trustees assignment is Vice Chair, Health Sciences and Research workgroup. Dr. Cancio is a resident of Tampa.
