Canoeing and Kayaking

Canoeing and kayaking passes are now sold online at our Outdoor Recreation Online Store!  Purchase your boat pass in advance on the internet, or on our computer at the boathouse.  The web store accepts Visa or Mastercard.  When you arrive at the boathouse, a staff member will fulfill your purchase online.  Please bring your USF ID.  Below is information about the rental options.

Rental options:

Single Boat Rental: These passes will allow the renter to take out boats for up to two hours. Each pass is valid for one canoe or kayak (single or double). One person with a valid USF ID will be able to present up to two single daily boat passes for a total of two boats for the rental period. No refunds are issued for unused hours on the pass. Single Daily Boat Passes are valid for 30 days from the purchase date. Single daily boat passes cost $5.00 per pass.

Weekend Pass: These allow users to rent boats on Saturdays and Sundays all semester long. Each weekend pass holder is allowed to rent one boat with the pass, and may rent on a consecutive Saturday and Sunday.  Passes will not be pro-rated. Cost of the weekend pass is $25.00.

Full Usage Pass: Sold for all the boating services at the park for an entire semester except Moonlight Canoeing. A full usage pass entitles the holder to take a canoe for up to two hours during the week or the weekend.  Cost of the semester full usage pass is $35.00. Full usage holders may receive special coupons and discounts on Outdoor Rec Items.

Moonlight Canoeing: See our Moonlight Canoeing page for complete information.  Students will be allowed to purchase up to 4 tickets (or receipts) with their USF ID. The cost will remain $5.00 per person.

The Rules:

  • Passes are non-transferable
  • Pass holders must provide two forms of ID with pass: A USF ID and a picture ID. Until equipment at the park can be used to validate.
  • Passes are not pro-rated for the semester.
  • Most passes are good for one boat.
  • Passes are valid for one semester.
  • None of the passes are valid for Moonlight Canoeing except a moonlight ticket.
  • Boat launches are free with valid USF ID.
  • Passes may not be used consecutively on a given day.
  • Late fees will be assessed or passes may be forfeit if renter continually does not follow renting rules.
  • All rental fees or lost equipment fees will be paid in the Outdoor Resource Center within one week. If the fees are not paid the bill will be turned over to the University and the student’s records could be placed on hold.
  • Late rental fee is $10.00 per hour. All lost or broken equipment will be charged at the replacement or repair fee.

  • **Please note the boathouse will be closed on all school holidays and during inclement weather. If you are unsure call 987-6840 to find out if we are open. At no time will we rent boats if there is thunder and lightning. In addition, due to the canoe/ kayak class boat selection is limited on Wednesday afternoon after 2:00 pm.*
