Institute on Black Life
The mission of the IBL is to serve as a resource center on the African American community and other peoples of the World African Community, and also on those issues that affect their interaction with the larger world community. In pursuit of this mission the Institute conducts and promotes interdisciplinary research, university/community based programs, faculty and student development, and related social and economic initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all peoples.

McNair Scholars Program

The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program is designed for undergraduates who are first-generation and low-income college students, or who are from a minority group underrepresented at the doctoral level in math, engineering, science, public health, English, and other disciplines.

Project Thrust
PROJECT THRUST is a support program established to provide personal and academic support to undergraduates at the USF in support of the University's commitment to create an environment of intellectual excellence and a culturally diverse academic community. PROJECT THRUST houses these Organizations: Personal Excellence Program, Academic Success Center, USF Mentoring Program, and Freshman Summer Institute.

Student Support Services Program

The Student Support Services program is designed for first time college students who have been identified as a first generation college student or with a low income family status, or an individual with a disability. The program provides academic advising sessions, academic monitoring, special classes, tutorial services, individual and group counseling, college survival seminars and activities that broaden career perspectives and enhance self-confidence.
