Laboratory Review Program
Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Laboratory Safety program conducts biannual laboratory reviews of research and teaching laboratories at USF. The purpose of the review program is to assist research and teaching laboratories in maintaining compliance with safety regulations from regulatory agencies such as FDEP, EPA, NFPA, FDOH, and safety procedures from the USF Chemical Hygiene Plan. The laboratory reviews are scheduled between EH&S and the Principle Investigators.
The Laboratory Review Process
1.) The Principle Investigator (PI) and College safety liaison are notified of upcoming lab reviews at least 2-4 weeks prior to the designated time period on the EH&S Lab Review Schedule.
2.) The PI schedules a date and time with EH&S Laboratory Safety.
3.) An EH&S Specialist, accompanied by the lab representative and/or College safety liaison, conducts the laboratory review using the Laboratory Review Checklist.
4.) Deficiencies that cannot be corrected during the review will be documented by EH&S for follow-up purposes.
5.) A laboratory review summary letter will be sent following the review. This letter will include all deficiencies documented and recommended corrective actions. All corrective actions taken to correct the deficiencies noted must be documented in the summary letter. This letter must be signed and returned to our office within 30 days of receiving.
