  • Responsible for the development, administration, and coordination of a University-wide system that will leverage and sustain diversity at USF.
  • Provides leadership towards USF's goal to enhance its transformation into a higher education institution that embraces and values diversity.
  • Primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with USF policies guaranteeing equal opportunity, access, and equity.
  • Oversee the development of a comprehensive system change that will ensure that diversity and equal opportunity become an integral part and a key component in the success of USF.
  • Primarily responsible for the development and administration of a comprehensive range of educational programs that will raise awareness about diversity and equal opportunity and will promote development of skills that will enhance the ability of faculty, staff, and students to live, work, and interact productively in a diverse community.
  • Assumes a major advisory role to the President, the Provost, Vice Presidents and Deans. Also, represents the interests of the University in interactions with the local community and with State and Federal regulatory bodies.

  • Assist the Associate Vice President with planning, developing, implementing, and the continual evaluation of a comprehensive institutional diversity program and university-wide multi-faceted human relation diversity initiatives to support the university’s commitment to social justice, multiculturalism, and diversity.
  • Responsible for the development of education programs for faculty, staff and students regarding issues of gender, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, cultures and lifestyles.
  • Acts as an advocate for advancing the university’s commitment to equity and diversity.
  • Administrator of the Theodore and Vivian Johnson Scholarship, this scholarship is for students with disabilities.
  • Administrator of the Delores Auzenne Fellowship, this scholarship is for graduate students.
  • Administrator of the Minority Community College Transfer scholarship, this scholarship is for students transferring from a community college.
  • Develop and assess Title IX and ADA reports. Directs and monitors all diversity audit activities.
  • Assist Associate Vice President to strengthen mediation process and in coordinating work of the Presidential advisory committees.

  • Assist the Associate Vice President of Diversity and Equal Opportunity in monitoring DEO’s operational practices and procedures.
  • Assists the Associate Vice President in ensuring USF's compliance with federal and state regulations regarding equal opportunity.
  • Serves as an objective fact-finder in complaint investigations, ensuring that the policy and process is effected with precision.
  • Conduct training programs for the University’s students, staff, and faculty on protected category discrimination and/or harassment.
  • Supervises and monitors all internal and external discrimination complaint investigators and investigations.
  • Assists in the investigation of discrimination complaints.
  • Develops and revises DEO complaint procedures.
  • Serves on various USF affiliated organizations as a DEO representative to address equal opportunity issues.
  • Provide guidance regarding equal opportunity concerns to USF student, staff, and faculty.
  • Continually researches and stays up-to-date on the current developments in the area of equal opportunity.

  • Ensures that DEO investigative procedures are followed.
  • Conducts interviews of Complainants, Respondents, and witnesses.
  • Gathers and analyzes documentation relevant to a complaint investigation.
  • Prepares Intake and Final Investigative Reports.
  • Disseminates to student, staff, and faculty information regarding DEO investigative procedures.
  • Researches and stays current with equal opportunity federal and state regulations.

  • Develops the University’s Affirmative Action Plan for Women and Minorities, and for Individuals with Disabilities and Veterans.
  • Develops the Equity Accountability Plan, and the Florida Educational Equity updates.
  • Assists in the development of the Title IX compliance report and the Gender Equity in Athletics.
  • Conduct and produce adverse impact analysis reports. Generates statistical reports.

 

 

Raquel Peverini

  • Responsible for the development, implemention and coordination of programs, actitvities and services that support the USF system's commitment to have an academic setting and workplace accessible to individuals with disabilities consistent with the requirements of the "Americans with Disabilities Act" (ADA).
  • Coordinates reasonable accomodations for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
  • Conducts training programs to students, faculty and staff on disablitity awareness, including programs, services and resources offered by the university.
  • Coordinates community outreach programs targeted to individuals with disabilities in the USF community.
  • Draft reports, conduct studies and research to determine best practices and state-of -the-art assistive and adaptive devices available to accommodate individuals with disablilities.
  • Serves as liasion to the University's Physical Accessibility Work Group and other similar committes with a focus on the interests and needs of individuals with disabilities in the community.
  • Coordinates activities of the Johnson Schloarship Program.
  • Serves as the University's liasion to individuals with disabilities within the USF community and the community in the Greater Tampa Bay metropolitan.
  • Represents the interests of and advocate on behalf of the individuals with disabilities at university functions, including, but not limited to, lectures, seminars, roundtable discussions, panel discussions, and other forums.

  • Serve as the Initial Intake Coordinator for potential complainants. This process includes building rapport with potential complaints and respondents in order to facilitate a process that will respond to the intent and the spirit of USF's DEO policies. Including: interview the complainant; explain and provide DEO procedures and the complaint packet to the complainant; submit a written summary to the Assistant Director; and/or make a referral if needed; provide follow-up as necessary to parties; prepare contracts for investigators and serve as contact for external investigators.
  • Monitor the Theodore and Vivian Johnson Scholarship, this scholarship is for students with disabilities.

  • Monitor the Minority Community College Transfer scholarship, this scholarship is for students transferring from a community college.
  • Audit hiring reports for all faculty and staff positions based on equal opportunity compliance.
  • Submit vacancy announcements for faculty and A&P Director and above positions to six minority publications on a weekly basis. The publications are: Black Issues in Higher Education, Women In Higher Education; Hispanic Outlook, Affirmative Action Register and University Faculty Voice.
  • Assign interpreters for students in a classroom setting, clubs/organization meetings, and public events.
  • Manages the unit budget, personnel, and payroll process.

  • Prepares and types correspondence for AVP and DEO staff.
  • Responds to external/internal invitations on behalf of AVP.
  • Assist AVP in the coordination of five Presidential advisory committees (Committee on Black Affairs, Athletic Council, Title IX, Committee on Issues of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Status of Women.
  • Assist AVP and DEO staff with special projects, assignments, and presentation involving different committees.
  • Assist with clerical functions of the DEO staff
  • Maintain databases to track Affirmative Action compliance of hiring reports for faculty, A & P and USPS positions.
