Title: Complete Your File
Fulfill any outstanding requirements you may have ASAP. Financial aid cannot disburse until your financial aid file is complete. Keep in mind that new requirements may appear based on information we receive that impacts your eligibility after an award offer is made. Check OASIS regularly to ensure all of your financial aid requirements have been satisfied.

Verification
Verification is a process whereby the federal processor requires that we verify the information submitted by you and/or your parents on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Be prepared in case you are chosen for verification.  Gather the following documents:

  • A signed copy of your previous year's IRS Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ, (dependent students must also submit their parents' tax returns) and W-2s;* and
  • 1099s from the Social Security Administration confirming the amount of your family's social security benefits (if benefits were received).

*If you do not have copies of this information, you can find out how to request copies via the IRS Web site.

How can I tell if I've been selected for verification?

Your Student Aid Report (SAR) will indicate if you have been chosen for verification.

You can also check OASIS to review your requirements. If a Federal Verification Worksheet is listed in your unsatisfied requirements, you have been chosen for verification. Submit the required information as soon as possible.

Report Funds from Other Sources
Federal regulations prohibit you from receiving more financial aid than your cost of attendance.  Aid received from outside sources will affect your aid eligibility.  Additional aid sources may include:

  • Tuition Waivers
  • Fellowships
  • Scholarships
  • Stipends
  • Veterans Education Benefits, etc.

If you are expecting funds from these or other sources, let us know immediately using the Additional Resources Form to avoid an unpleasant surprise if we have to recover funds already disbursed to you.  Your awards will be revised to reflect any changes. Check OASIS for revisions.
