All initial awards are based on
full-time
enrollment; however, grants, including Federal Pell Grants, and campus-based
funds are disbursed/prorated based on actual enrollment. Continuing
students' files are
reviewed in July for an initial award offer.
Awards May Change; Know the Requirements
Your awards may be revised if we receive
updated information that requires it. Federal regulations prohibit you from
receiving more financial aid than your cost of attendance (see details below
in Funds from Other Sources). Therefore, it is to your benefit to
regularly (at least weekly at the beginning of each term) check your awards
in
OASIS.
Our automated awarding process makes all awards for two terms. This does not
guarantee your eligibility. You must meet all other requirements to receive
aid.
Some awards are estimated:
-
based on preliminary information from the
funding source, or
-
because your enrollment determines the actual
amount, not to exceed the estimate; or
-
based on awards you received during previous
semesters.
Some awards are conditional upon your
meeting specific eligibility requirements.
Report Funds From
Other Sources
Aid received from outside sources will affect your aid
eligibility. Additional aid sources may include:
- Tuition Waivers
- Fellowships
- Scholarships
- Stipends
- Veterans Education Benefits, etc.
If you are expecting funds from these or other
sources, let us know immediately using the
Additional Resources Form to avoid an
unpleasant surprise if we have to recover funds already disbursed to you.
Your awards will be revised to reflect any changes.
Carefully read your Award Provisions,
you may access the
Award Provisions online.
The provisions provide the conditions of
your award(s), instructions on obtaining your funds and maintaining your
eligibility.
Florida Bright Futures (FBF)
USF estimates FBF eligibility for all Florida residents. Disbursement for
new and continuing students is based on your meeting all state requirements
and your actual enrollment each term.
All students who are eligible for FBF are
downloaded from the State’s database, beginning in June.
Go to
FBF website
for more information.
