Check
OASIS prior
to the start of classes (each term) to see if you have any deferments and
to see the expiration date(s) for the deferment(s).
Automatic Deferments
Deferments require you be enrolled as a degree-seeking student and are enrolled at least half time. Deferments are automatically
posted on OASIS for students who qualify. To qualify for an automatic
deferment, you should be eligible to receive financial aid (including
student loans) and/or scholarships.
If you completed the
Free Application of Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) , a tuition deferment will be posted if:
- USF receives the
official results from the federal processor no later than the Friday
before classes begin, and;
- You are admitted as a degree seeking student, and;
- You are registered at least half-time in USF classes by 5pm Friday before classes begin.
Tuition Deferments
A tuition deferment prevents
cancellation of registration for non-payment of fees, and temporarily
prevents assessment of the late payment fee.
Because a tuition deferment prevents cancellation for non-payment, you
must officially withdraw from all classes by the refund deadline to be
relieved of liability to pay and to ensure that tuition is not later paid
by disbursed financial aid.
Manual Tuition Deferments
Eligibility for a manual
deferment is considered by on a case by case basis, based
on documentation of an awarded scholarship that will be disbursed through the USF student account.
Housing
Deferments
A deferment of payment for your
on-campus housing charges is only available if you are receiving financial
aid through USF.
To receive an automatic Financial Aid Housing Deferment you must have the
minimum funds awarded (excluding Federal Work Study) as specified in your
housing contract. For detailed information about the housing deferment
review your Housing Contract or visit the
Residence Services Web Site . For information regarding St. Petersburg campus housing please visit USF St. Petersburg's Residential Housing Web Site .
Meal Plan Deferments
(issued by Dining Services)
A deferment of payment for your
meal plan is available only if you receive financial aid through USF.
Your eligibility for a meal plan deferment is determined by USF Dining
Services. To receive a deferment for your meal plan, USF Dining Services
requires that you pay a nonrefundable administrative fee, which is due
with your signed contract. This fee is not applied to the total price of
your meal plan. Contact USF
Dining Services directly for more details.
