Message from the Dean:

To My Colleagues in the College of Marine Science:

Over the past year I have been constantly impressed by the dedication and commitment of all College employees as the University of South Florida experienced a period of transition intended to ensure its continued success. As your Dean, let me assure you that I firmly believe your personal and collective efforts have been instrumental in shaping the College to become one of the top oceanographic institutions in the world and one that is recognized as a leader in applying science to societal needs through research, service and training of future scientists. This is a tremendous accomplishment and one in which you should take great pride.

Today, I write to invite you to join me once again in supporting the College through your personal giving. Last year, members of the College Faculty and Staff contributed over $15,600 to various funds that directly supported our students, faculty research and various community outreach programs. However, the growing downturn in our economy and the increased pressure it has placed on our limited resources, only magnifies the important role private support from all constituent groups has in maintaining the excellence for which we are known. Thus, I ask you to continue to make the College one of your top three philanthropic priorities during 2009-10. Listed below are several accounts I have selected that provide immediate and flexible support for the College's many needs. Please consider directing your contribution to one or more of these important funds. If none of these are of interest to you, click on the button below to view all of the College funds maintained by the USF Foundation. Should you need additional assistance, please contact Tom Piazze, College Development Officer at (727) 553-3537 or piazze@spadmin.usf.edu. Thank you again for all that you do to support of the College of Marine Science.

Dr. William T. Hogarth, Dean
