The Faculty & Staff Campaign has always been held in the spring.  Why is it being moved to the fall?

The annual public phase or "marketing push" of the Faculty & Staff Campaign is being moved from the spring to the fall, beginning in fall 2009.  There are several reasons for this timing change:

  1. Moving the marketing push to the fall will allow it to coincide with the kickoff of the soon-to-be-announced USF: Unstoppable comprehensive campaign

  2. A fall marketing push better aligns with USF's academic year and with USF's employment patterns

  3. Moving the marketing push to the beginning of the academic year places greater emphasis on this important event

What is the USF: Unstoppable campaign, and how does it relate to the Faculty & Staff Campaign?

The USF: Unstoppable campaign is a multi-million dollar fundraising initiative that USF will publicly announce in October. Over the next few years, the USF: Unstoppable campaign will raise funds for new construction, academic initiatives and endowed programs across the USF system. The Unstoppable campaign is a comprehensive campaign, meaning it includes all annual contributions, as well as major gifts. By making a gift or pledge to the annual Faculty & Staff Campaign, you are automatically a contributor to the USF: Unstoppable campaign.

I just made a payroll deduction pledge to the Faculty & Staff Campaign a few months ago, and the deductions continue through spring 2010. Will that pledge count for the 2010 Campaign?

It depends on the date of your pledge. If your payroll pledge was made before June 30, 2009, the pledge counted for the 2009 Faculty & Staff Campaign, even thought your payments stretch into the 2010 fiscal year. If your payroll pledge was made after June 30, 2009, it will count for the 2010 Campaign. If you need assistance determining the date of your pledge, contact the Faculty & Staff Campaign office at 813-974-4900 or fscampaign@admin.usf.edu.

I'm still paying on a payroll deduction pledge to the 2009 Campaign. How can I participate in the 2010 Campaign without a double deduction in my paycheck?

Thank you for giving to the 2009 Faculty & Staff Campaign. We understand there are some donors who are still paying on payroll deduction pledges from last fiscal year.

To aid you in transitioning from a spring giving cycle to a fall giving cycle and to include you as participant in the 2010 Campaign without increasing your biweekly deduction amount, we recommend making a short-term payroll pledge to bridge the gap between the end of your current pledge and the beginning of next year's Faculty & Staff Campaign fundraising push. These "gap pledges" will begin when your current pledge ends and will continue your giving through September 2010.

For example: For example, an employee with an annual payroll deduction pledge ending in May 2010 might make a "gap pledge" for 10 pay periods (5 months) to continue his/her giving through September 2010 when next year's Faculty & Staff Campaign fundraising push will take place.

For more information or to make a gap pledge, contact the Faculty & Staff Campaign office at 813-974-4900 or fscampaign@admin.usf.edu

I have a payroll deduction pledge that automatically renews each year. Since the campaign timeframe is changing, do I need to make changes to my payroll deduction?

If you have a Sustaining payroll deduction pledge, it is not necessary to make any changes. Your Sustaining gift will automatically renew on the anniversary of your pledge. As long as you have a sustaining payroll deduction pledge, you will automatically be counted as a participant in the Faculty & Staff Campaign.

What if my spouse works for a matching gift company?

My spouse also works at the University. Will our joint gift count for both of us?

I made a gift to the 2009 Faculty & Staff Campaign just few months ago. Why am I being asked for another one so soon?

Thank you for participating in the 2009 Faculty & Staff Campaign. We realize that the timing changes of our Faculty & Staff Campaign may result in two solicitations within a fairly short period of time. If it is too soon for you to make another cash or credit card contribution, you might consider making a PLEDGE now and then fulfilling your pledge later in the fiscal year. By pledging your support now, you will be counted as a participant in the 2010 Campaign, but you still have the flexibility to fulfill your pledge by check or credit card when it is convenient for you.
