Financial Disclosure

Each year, employees filling certain designated positions are required to complete a Statement of Financial Interests Form and submit it to the Department of State in Tallahassee by July 1.  At the University of South Florida we have approximately 75 positions which are so designated.

The forms are mailed directly from the State to the incumbents of the designated positions.  Most affected individuals should have received the form and the guide by now.  The forms must be completed, signed, and returned to Tallahassee, even if none of the items apply.

If this applies to you, we recommend you retain a copy of the completed form for your records.

Do not send the completed forms to Human Resources.  The mailing address is listed on the back of the form.

If you have any questions regarding the requirement to file or the form itself, please contact either Nancy Ward at 974-5385 or Sandy Lovins at 974-8063.

Life After Classification Redesign

The new classification structure is now in place.

“Classification has always been and continues to be a core function of Human Resources.  That was true before the Classification Redesign Project and remains true now,” said JD Needham, Assistant Director of HR Services.  “We’re continuing to work through any outstanding issues remaining from the Project, while returning to ‘business as usual’.”

During the analysis phase of the Project, there was a “classification freeze” in place for routine reclassification requests.  Now that the “freeze” is no longer in effect, if you need classification assistance, please consult your HR Classification Analyst or click here to learn more about normal classification procedures.

For more information on the Classification Redesign Project, visit the website here.  If you have additional questions, please contact JD Needham at 974-5719 or jneedham@admin.usf.edu.

Outstanding Staff Awards Ceremony May 23

All employees are invited to attend the annual Outstanding Staff Awards ceremony on Wednesday May 23, 2007 at 2 PM in Theatre I.  The Outstanding Staff Award is the highest award given by the University to Administration (A&P) and Staff (USPS) employees who exemplify USF’s vision, values and standards of service.  It is an honor to be nominated.

The Outstanding Staff Awards recognize those individuals who have demonstrated excellence, commitment and exceptional contributions to the University.  Outstanding Staff Award recipients are recognized and honored at the Awards Ceremony.  In addition, two Outstanding Staff Award recipients will be honored as “Employees of the Year” and receive the Gabor Award.

Please plan to join President Genshaft in honoring USF’s Outstanding Staff Award nominees and recipients at this important annual event.

Adoption Benefits Program

The 2007 open enrollment period for the State’s Adoption Benefits Program continues now through May 31, 2007.  If you adopted a child on or after October 1, 2000, and you are a full-time or part-time USF employee, you are eligible to apply for adoption benefits during the open enrollment period.  OPS employees are not eligible for this benefit.  Employees who applied in previous years and were not awarded a benefit must reapply in order to be considered for the adoption benefit.

An eligible adoption is the adoption of a child whose permanent custody has been awarded to the Florida Department of Children and Family Services or to a Florida-licensed child-placing agency, provided that a final order of adoption is awarded on or after October 1, 2000.

Adoption of a Special Needs Child:  A monetary benefit in the amount of $10,000 per child may be available.  Adoption of a Non-Special Needs Child:  A monetary benefit in the amount of $5,000 per child may be available.  The benefit for part-time employees will be pro-rated.  The amount of benefits available to fund this program is contingent upon Legislative Appropriation.

For more information and to access the adoption benefit application, visit the State of Florida’s Department of Management Services, Division of Human Resource Management’s website.   If you have any questions regarding the Adoption Benefit Program, please contact Krystal Barnes at (850) 487-9471 (SUNCOM 277-9471) or krystal.barnes@dms.myflorida.com or call the USF HR Benefits Office at 974-2970.
