RightStart@USF is the process that facilitates the completion of new hire paperwork for all new employees. The program is designed to get employees off on the right foot by ensuring that necessary paperwork is completed on or before the employee’s first day of employment. Each newly hired employee will receive a professional and courteous welcome to USF and have their paperwork processed quickly and efficiently so they are ready to get started in their new position.
New Hires to USF
RightStart@USF is triggered by the issuance of an offer letter by the hiring department. Departments should use one of the offer letter templates available on the Human Resources website. In the offer letter new employees are given specific instructions on what to bring, and when and where to report. Upon their arrival, an HR Representative will assist the new employee in the completion of new hire paperwork and provide them with essential information regarding their pay and benefits (if benefit eligible). Within one hour of arrival at Human Resources, your new employee will be on their way to your department to begin focusing on their new career at USF.
All new employees are required to attend RightStart on or before their first day of employment. If there are extenuating circumstances which prevent an employee from being on campus on or before their first day, their HR departmental contact should notify their Service Center Employment Representative as soon as possible.
Rehires to USF
If more than one year has elapsed since an employee has worked for USF, they must come to RightStart again to complete new hire paperwork prior to starting work. If an employee has been separated from the university for less than one year, the department may appoint him/her by completing an Appointment Status Form and attaching the signed offer letter. Once the rehiring process is completed and updated in GEMS, the employee may access GEMS Self Service to update their personal information.
