Robert Louis Allen
Endowed Memorial Scholarship


The Robert Allen Scholarship was established by Mrs. Clara Allen and family, friends and colleagues of Mr. Robert "Bob" Allen, former director of the USF Office of Public Affairs.

Qualifications
The selection committee will choose recipients on the basis of the academic talent demonstrated by the applicant. The minimum criteria are as follows:

  • African American student, not of Hispanic origin, and a citizen of the United States
  • Undergraduate, degree seeking student, who has completed at least three (3) semesters of satisfactory work at USF
  • Majoring in Mass Communications, Nursing or the Premedical Sciences (first priority given to Mass Communications majors)
  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or higher is required (3.0 is preferred)
Please note that once the minimum academic requirements are met, the selection committee will consider other academic and non-academic factors in reaching a final decision.  Other factors considered include service to schools and other non-profit institutions, leadership responsibilities, work experience and special contributions (e.g., the arts, community service, volunteer work).
