The IBL serves as a resource center on issues that affect the African American community and other peoples of the World African Community.

Catherine and John Lott Brown
Endowed Scholarship

Named for President Emeritus Dr. John Lott Brown and his wife Catherine, this scholarship provides opportunities for academically talented minority students studying at USF.


Qualifications
The selection committee will choose recipients on the basis of the academic talent demonstrated by the applicant. The minimum academic criteria are as follows:

  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or higher is required (3.0 is preferred). Applicants must hold standing in the top 25% of the class during the senior year in high school.
  • ACT minimum composite score of 20 or SAT minimum score of 900
Please note that once the minimum academic requirements are met, the selection committee will consider other academic and non-academic factors in reaching a final decision.  Other factors considered include service to schools and other non-profit institutions, leadership responsibilities, work experience and special contributions (e.g., the arts, community service, volunteer work).
