Digital Media Innovation Studio
The Digital Media Innovation Studio (DMIS) is a new, student-use lab on the USF in Lakeland campus in room LAC-1274. Funded by a $100,000 grant award from the USF Student Technology Fee, along with supplemental support from USF in Lakeland Campus Computing, Facilities Services, Teaching & Learning Innovation and the Student Government, the goal of DMIS is to offer students an open-lab facility unlike any other throughout the USF System; one wherein they can work either individually or in small groups utilizing beginner to advanced tools to author and edit highly dynamic, digital media content for their assignments and projects.
The DMIS offers:
Three (3) digital media editing suites, each equipped with:
- A high-end, dual-monitor multimedia workstation
- A variety of software tools (both amateur and professional grade) for authoring digital video, digital audio, graphical images, interactive multimedia, web design, animation, e-learning and 3D-modeling
- A large collection of prebuilt templates, stock music, effects, motion titles and much more
- A graphics tablet
- A flatbed scanner
- A special video-editing keyboard
- A video production mini-studio with remote control camera and chroma-key capability
- Audio recording capabilities with a multi-channel audio mixer
- A brainstorming, planning and review area with whiteboard and data projector
- Video camcorders and accessories that students can check out on short-term custody
- An on-site mentor/trainer who will provide students with orientation and guidance in use of DMIS tools and technologies
