Metacognition and Intentional Learning

Recognizing that learning is a highly individualized process, the Learning Strategies Program at USF begins with a focus on the learners, assisting them in developing a deep understanding of how learning occurs, both individually about themselves and as part of a broader process of task analysis. The overall goal for our courses is to help students shift their focus away from the idea of "quick fix" study skills to one aimed at empowering them with the tools necessary to analyze and meet the multiple types of learning challenges they might face.

In both the 2-credit Advaced Lerning Systems course (REA 1605) and the 1-credit Strategic Learning course (REA 2604), students are guided through a learning analysis process using the Learning Connections Inventory or LCI (Johnston & Dainton, 1996).

More information about the LCI can be found on the Learning Connections Resources website where the LCI can be taken and scored on line.
