Writing Center Staff

Haley Anderson, pursuing English Literature MA


Haley Anderson is currently pursuing an MA in English Literature with a focus in Restoration, 18th Century, and Victorian Literature. She has worked in writing centers for the last four years and began teaching college composition last Fall.

 

 

 


Ben Gerdts, pursuing Literature MA


Ben Gerdts is in his second year pursuing a Master's Degree in Literature at USF. He has taught Composition for the past three semesters and this is his first semester in the Writing Center. He looks forward to meeting with students of all backgrounds and academic interests and collaborating with them in their writing pursuits. His areas of literary study include the works of Cormac McCarthy, Magical Realism, Russian literature, and Contemporary American fiction. Outside of USF, Ben has taught students ranging from four years old to high school.

 


Deborah Kochman, pursuing Literature MA


Deborah Kochman is pursuing a M.A. in literature but has a keen interest in rhetoric and composition and a dedication to helping fellow students become better writers and managing their writing projects. As an undergraduate, she completed the course requirements for both literature and professional/technical writing and has 15 years of paralegal experience researching, writing and editing legal documents for complex medical negligence cases. Deborah finds this combination of education and experience provides her with the flexibility to assist students with the shortest first year composition essays to the most complex graduate dissertations.


Christina Naghitorabi, pursuing Linguistics MA


Christy Naghitorabi recently joined the Writing Center as a tutor. She brings insight into the needs of writers for whom English may not be a first language. In addition to working with us, Christy is pursuing an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She has also worked with English learners in international contexts, and most recently, with immigrants and visitors learning English in the United States.

Kate Pantelides, Writing Center Coordinator, pursuing Rhetoric and Composition PhD


Kate Pantelides has been working in writing centers for the last nine years and has served as the Writing Center Coordinator at USF since 2008. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition. She has taught and worked as an administrator at both the secondary school and college level and draws on those experiences in her work in the Writing Center.

 

 


James Ricci, pursuing Literature PhD


James Ricci is a third year Ph.D student studying contemporary literature and film. He began working in the USF writing center upon its restructure in the Fall of 2008. He has taught English Composition and currently serves as a teaching assistant for Culture and the Popular Arts as well as Film and Culture. His current area of study includes the interactivity of new media and its relation to the evolution of American independent cinema.

 


Bryan Rice, pursuing Creative Writing MFA


Bryan Rice worked in writing centers as an undergraduate and has worked at USF's writing center since the spring of 2009. He is pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration on poetry and nonfiction.

 

 

 


Dana Rine, pursuing Literature MA


A seven year tutoring veteran, Dana Rine tutors at USF’s writing center while pursuing an M.A. in English literature. She has taught Composition I to undergraduates at USF and won a teaching award in 2008 for assisting students with learning disabilities. Tutoring is a privilege for Dana, and she looks forward to working with more students this spring.

 

 


Micheal Taber, pursuing Rhetoric and Composition MA


Micheal Taber is completing his Master's degree in Rhetoric and Composition and has been an instructor for college composition and professional writing. With a background in business and the military, Micheal is interested in how we learn to communicate differently for different communities.
