Block Tuition

 

Project has been placed on hold by Dr. Wilcox until further notice pending outcome of legislature. The Block Tuition Workgroup has drafted a list of questions and policy considerations that will need to be addressed immediately when project is reinitiated. 

 

 

CAPP

 

The Curriculum, Advising, and Program Planning module known as CAPP is baseline SCTSunGard Banner functionality that offers student tracking toward degree or award completion. CAPP provides the ability to comprehensively track a student’s progress toward a goal. That goal could be a degree, a certificate, a diploma or another set of requirements. 

 

Dr. Glen Besterfield, Interim Director of Tracking Academic Progress of Students (TAPS) is currently planning on performing a TAPS pilot for Fall 2005 utilizing both the CAPP and SASS programs.  The following are potential programs to be included as part of the pilot.

  

·         College of Engineering - 

o        Mechanical Engineering

o        Civil Engineering

o        Chemical Engineering

o        Computer Engineering

o        Electrical Engineering

o        Industrial Engineering

o        Computer Science

o        Information Systems

 

·         College of Nursing -

o        Nursing

o        Nursing (RN)

 

·         Dr. Besterfield has also in consideration to pilot one program from business, and possibly the bi-medical sciences program from CAS.

e-Grades Have Arrived - Summer 2006  Posted 5/31/06

 

Say goodbye to bubble sheets. Submit your grades electronically. Contact the scheduler in your academic unit or call the Office of the Registrar for assistance. Assistance is also available via email at: e-grades@usf.edu. Login to the myUSF portal at: http://my.usf.edu, then click on the “Courses” tab at the top of the page. Look for “e-Grades Have Arrived!”, then click on the registration link. An Online Guide is available in the e-Grades module. Click here for more information.

 

 

Spring 2006 myUSF e-Grades Pilot  Posted 4/24/06

The myUSF e-Grades system is up and running in production.  Faculty registered and trained for the Spring 2006 beta test can immediately begin submitting grades.  Scantron grade sheets for all other sections will be available for pick-up from the Registrar’s Office later today.

Faculty interested in participating in the expanded Summer 2006 pilot program are encouraged to login to the myUSF portal, click on the Courses tab, and follow the instructions in the “e-Grades Have Arrived!” module.  Anyone teaching a Summer 2006 course is eligible to participate.

The e-grades@usf.edu mailbox has been setup to receive requests for assistance and feedback from pilot participants.  Please direct inquiries and problem reports to that address so they can be logged and quickly resolved.

SunGard Higher Education 7.3 Upgrade  Posted 8/09/06

 

At direction of the Enterprise Business Systems Council, a project to upgrade OASIS from its current Banner 6.2 version to Banner 7.3 has been initiated. The upgrade will consist of applying User Interface and Application Programming Interface (API) enhancements, removing unused USF modifications, where possible moving USF modifications to baseline, upgrading Oracle reports, etc. In addition, new baseline features to be implemented as part of the upgrade include Common Matching and Curriculum changes, as well as code consolidation.

*Update To Memo Above - The implementation date has been changed.  OASIS is now scheduled to be brought down at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct 26th and to remain down until 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31st.

 

 

 

What’s New in OASIS B7? Posted 10/11/06

 

  • Menus – larger and more streamlined

·    Folder Icons - have replaced ‘+’ and ‘-’ signs on menus

·    Personal Links – have been added to allow you to add personalized/useful links to main menu

·    Enhanced User Preferences – Customized Screens/Colors/Links (GUAUPRF)

·    Online Help System

·    Color Bars on Forms – have been added to differentiate information blocks

·    Tabs - have replaced block next

·    Icons -

§   Down Arrows - have replaced search magnifying glass indicating LOV (List of Values) and search features

§   Calendar icon - has been added to date fields 

§   Calculator icon - has been added to numeric fields

·   Shortcuts -

§   Right click on form for options menu

§   Press F5 to have ‘Go To’ box appear at top of form, press F5 again to make it disappear

§   Use Up & Down arrows to access last 10 forms

·   Form Security - User update capabilities can be limited to one or more data elements on a form.

·  Concurrent Curricula – Applicants can be concurrently be admitted to and enrolled in different college majors for the same term by using the concurrent curricula decision codes.  Also, the system will allow multiple curricula or fields of study—college, major, concentration, and degree—to be maintained concurrently in priority order on the student record.  The “curriculum” and “change of major” screens in OASIS will look very different in the new version.  While the new version provides for concurrent curricula, university admission/academic policy, procedure, and practices will remain the same, e.g., undergraduate applications will only be considered for a single college/major/program. 

 

Alternative USF Operations for October 27 – 30 (OASIS Down Time):  Posted 10/11/06

Please ensure OASIS services for advising, planning, instructional, or business related activities are completed prior to the beginning of this window or can wait until after the new version of OASIS becomes available on Tuesday.  All normal university activities will resume as soon as the new system is available and no later than 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31st. 

Last Day for Fall 2006 Withdrawal - The deadline for students to drop or withdraw without academic penalty and receive a ‘W’ grade is extended to Saturday, November 4, 2006.

Admissions Offices - Students will not be able to submit applications to USF on the web via FACTS and no admission decisions will be made during this closure.  Student inquiries about the status of their applications will be addressed immediately following the upgrade.  Please send any inquiries for Undergraduate Admissions to: admission@admin.usf.edu, for International Admissions to: ia@iac.usf.edu, and for Graduate Admissions to: admissions@grad.usf.edu.

Cashier’s Office - The USF Cashier’s Office will be closed for student transactions on Friday, October 27 and Monday, October 30.  Please conduct all tuition payment, transcript fees, refunds or third party payments with the Cashier’s Office prior to Friday, October 27 or after Monday, October 30.

Office of the Registrar:  Documents from students or faculty will continue to be accepted by the Office of the Registrar.  However, the documents will not be processed until Tuesday, October 31st. 

Financial Aid - The Office of Financial Aid will not be able to process any financial aid transactions or provide any specific information about financial aid status until Tuesday, October 31st when the installation for OASIS is expected to be complete.  We apologize in advance for the inconveniences created by the upgrade of this major information system and appreciate everyone’s patience through this process.  Student Academic Support System (SASS):

During the OASIS downtime, SASS will be operating with data processed the night of Thursday, Oct. 26th.  The next SASS Interface execution should take place the night of Tuesday, Oct. 31st.  Therefore, you will be able to access fresh data on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006.  Please refrain for processing any Student Exceptions during system downtime.
