Transfer Student Checklist

The journey to success at USF begins here!

Congratulations New USF Bulls! Now that you have been admitted to the University of South Florida, your next step is to attend Orientation. If you have not already registered for Orientation, you can get started by clicking here. You will need your USF ID number (U number) in order to register. For directions on how to find your U#, select the link here.

Once you have registered and begin to prepare for Orientation, we suggest that you do the following:

Step 1: What to bring to Orientation

·        A legal photo ID

  • Your Orientation Parking Permit which will be included in your confirmation packet.
  • A jacket or sweater (temperatures vary in buildings)

·        Your University ID Number

·        $10.00 for your USF ID Card (U#)

·        Extra spending money for snacks, beverages, and shopping in the bookstore

  • An umbrella, just in case!
  • Final or most recent transcripts for accurate advising

Step 2: Academic Advising

If you did not register online for Orientation, it is important that you complete forms for the designated colleges on the following links: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering. For a list of all academic advisors, click here. It is recommended that students in the College of Arts and Sciences meet with an Academic Advisor prior to Orientation.

Step 3: Special accommodations

If you need special accommodations to attend Orientation, please inform the Office of Orientation, (813) 974-3060, about these needs within 10 days of your Orientation session.

Step 4: Orientation Parking

For Orientation, students will park in the Sun Dome parking lot 22. To familiarize yourself with campus, you can view this map. When you arrive on campus, please follow the “Orientation Check-In” signs to the Sun Dome. Please be sure to hang your Orientation Parking Permit from your rear-view mirror, label side out.

Step 5: CLAST Test

If you have earned 45 or more transferable semester hours from previous institutions, you should take the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) the first semester you are enrolled as a degree-seeking student.  If you have less than 45 credit hours, you will need to have the test taken by the time you reach 45 hours. Speak with your academic advisor or visit CLAST advising to determine if you have met the exemption requirements.

Step 6: Financial Aid

Visit Financial Aid to follow up with any concerns that you may have regarding your Financial Aid package.

Step 7: Medical and Immunization History

Complete a Medical History/Immunization Form. It is required for all entering students.  If you have not already submitted this information with your application to USF, go to Student Health Services and click on “SHS Forms” to download a copy.  In order to maintain your current student status forms must be submitted by the fifth day of the term.

Step 8: Special Populations

Students in the Honors College and student Athletes will have an opportunity following Orientation to discuss courses program specific with their advisor.

Step 9: Computer Store

While on campus, stop by the USF Computer Store (located next to Starbucks in the Bookstore in the Marshall Center) for special educational pricing on course required and University preferred software packages. The Computer Store also offers educational discounts on computers, accessories and printing supplies. Full computer repair and upgrade service is available at competitive rates. For complete information, visit The Computer Store website.
