The General Accounting department of the University’s Controller’s Office is tasked with:
Banking Services - Review and reconciliation of all the University of South Florida’s banking and investment accounts, as well as administration of overall banking fraud requirements as set by the University’s Controllers office.
Fixed Asset Management – Review assets to assure that they are recorded in the accounting system according to Federal, State and University guidelines.
Internal Accounting Services - General Accounting reviews and processes non-automated accounting transactions including the upload of interdepartmental billing, expense transfer requests, cash correction requests, etc. to the FAST system.
Other – General Accounting processes the State of Florida’s monthly and quarterly sales, tourist and communication tax returns. We also research and request unclaimed property that may belong to the University or one of its direct support organizations.
The General Accounting department mission is to provide customer service oriented support while safeguarding University resources. We provide accurate and audited bank reconciliations; monitoring and oversight of fixed asset accounting; consistent and reliable transaction processing, timely and accurate state tax reporting and overall accounting guidance for the University community.
