Working with Freelance Photographers or Stock images
If the University Communications & Marketing photography department cannot meet your image requests or has a conflict with your shoot date, they can happily recommend local freelance photographers with a long affiliation with USF. If you commission the services of one of these external freelancers, you are still obligated to use legal release forms for all participants and to abide by U.S. copyright law. Model releases are available at the Online Marketing Resource Kit. Please keep in mind that the hourly rates and fees of independent photographers may be considerably higher than those of the UCM photo department.
If you elect to purchase a stock image from an online stock library or photo provider, it is your responsibility to secure proper legal rights for the image’s intended usage. Keep in mind that these images will eventually be required to pass the University Communications & Marketing approvals process.
