Education Appropriations Committee
On March 18, 2003, the Senate Education Appropriations Committee distributed their initial budget recommendations for 2003-04. Click here for a summary.
The worksheet includes two tabs. The first one (Summary - All Sources) includes all funds appropriated and non-appropriated (student fees trust fund, etc) for 2003-04. The second tab (Summary - Select Funds) includes only those funds (General Revenue, Lottery, Major Gifts TF, and Phosphate Research TF) identified in the appropriations bill.
Points of Interest: 1) Additional Major Gift Matching funds of $23.5 million; 2) Across the board reduction of $36.6 million; 3) tuition increase of 7.5% with flexibility to increase all levels except in-state undergraduate by up to 10%; 4) An additional GR reduction of $21.3 million is offset by Medicaid funds for the UF-HSC and USF-HSC.
This information is being provided to keep you informed as to the status of the budgets. The Senate Education Appropriations Committee will be taking up the budget and proviso on Thursday, March 20. Additional information will be forwarded as soon as it becomes available.
