House Budget Recommendations
On March 24, 2003, the House released their initial budget recommendations for 2003-04. Click here for summary and comparison to Senate recommendations.
The worksheet includes two tabs. The first one (Summary - All Sources) includes all funds appropriated and non-appropriated (student fees trust fund, etc). The second tab (Summary - Select Funds) includes only those funds (such as General Revenue, Lottery, etc.) identified in the appropriations bill.
Points of Interest: 1) A reduction of $118.6 million in GR; 2) An increase in Lottery funding of $34.4 million; 3) Tuition increase of 7.5% for in-state undergraduates with UBOT authority to increase an additional 5%; 4) UBOT authority to set the in-state fees for graduate and professional and all levels of out-of-state fees; 5) An additional GR reduction of $21.3 million is offset by Medicaid funds for the UF-HSC and USF-HSC; and 6) $25 million is provided for Alzheimer's Research.
This information is being provided to keep you informed as to the status of the budgets. Additional information will be forwarded as soon as it becomes available.
The House Appropriations Committee will be meeting on Friday, March 28, to take up their proposed Appropriations Bill. The Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled to meet this Thursday, March 27, to discuss their proposed Appropriations Bill.
